A spiritual journey in the Pollino National Park

Percorso Antico della Fede
Il Contesto
Ambitious and visionary, the Percorso Antico della Fede (Ancient Path of Faith) is a project that combines the tourism promotion of the Pollino National Park's natural and cultural beauties with the more intimate and spiritual dimension of walking. Far more than a simple itinerary, this guide is indeed an invitation to an inner journey—a path that leads not only through the physical beauties of the Park but also deep into spiritual traditions. Percorso Antico della Fede is an experience that goes beyond traditional tourism, offering a moment of introspection, meditation, and the rediscovery of ancient and universal values, and it does so in a place of extraordinary beauty, a bridge connecting past and present, nature and culture. The panoramas offered by the Pollino Park are breathtaking, stretching from the majesty of its mountains to deep canyons and forests that seem to dance with the wind. Every corner of this "sanctuary" of nature tells a story, bearing witness to its deep cultural roots and the ancient traditions of the communities that inhabit it.
Il Progetto
With the aim of best representing the essence of the Percorso Antico della Fede, Otix took care of the brand's restyling, with interventions from both an aesthetic and conceptual standpoint. Reinterpreting the symbols associated with walking was essential, revisiting them through contemporary design touches while carefully working to preserve the deep meanings held within these elements. The result is a renewed image anchored in tradition, which not only captures the essence of the Path but also tells a story of faith, inner search, and connection with nature. [nl]new-line[/nl] The logotype of the Percorso Antico della Fede took shape and developed from a concept representing the sum of the elements making up the brand's identity, which are loaded with a meaning closely connected to its philosophy. The circle, a symbol of cyclicality and spirituality, meets more directional elements that represent the dimension of direction and choice, intersecting with the shape of a cross, a reference to the Catholic pilgrimages that have always been made in honor of Marian cults. The elements that formed the genesis of the logotype are rich in meaning and symbolism, graphically reworked and reinterpreted to communicate a profound message that goes beyond a simple mark or grapheme: the Percorso Antico della Fede is not just a religious path tied to the cult of the Madonna del Pollino, but it is also a journey to discover the wonderful nature in which it unfolds—an opportunity to connect with others and with oneself. [nl]new-line[/nl] The logotype consists of three main elements: the brand naming, characterized by simple and soft letters; the mark, a distinctive and identifying graphic sign; and the payoff “madonna del pollino,” a defining expression of its identity. In addition to the logotype, the chromotype plays a fundamental role in outlining a brand's visual identity. Indeed, colors have the power to capture attention and arouse emotions, sensations, and evoke core principles. For this project, yellow, orange, and green were chosen as institutional colors for their deep meanings and evocative power. Yellow, traditionally associated with the sun, is the symbol of light—not only in a practical sense but also in a more spiritual one. Yellow is the color of positivity and also symbolizes expansion, movement, change, and the search for the new. Orange, with its vibrant energy, symbolizes creativity, confidence, and the power of the mind, embodying a generous vitality and an awareness of one's capabilities. Green, an evocative image of nature and its cyclicality, becomes the emblem of everything in harmony with the environment and its regeneration. Yellow, traditionally associated with the sun, is the symbol of light—not only "concretely intended" but also "of the soul." It is the color of positivity and also symbolizes expansion, movement, change, and the search for the new. [br]break-line[/br] Finally, the Brand Image is also built through the selection of distinctive Typographic Characters. Choosing a specific Font or Typeface is essential to reinforce the Brand's image and constitutes one of the key elements of its visual identity. For this project, the chosen Font is Jeko, a contemporary geometric character combined with a more traditional appearance. The bold repetitive elements form a clear rhythm, making this font highly legible and distinctive. [nl]new-line[/nl] Parallel to the brand restyling, the project also involved the reworking of the Pollino National Park Guide. The goal was to create an intuitive and visually appealing guide that could simultaneously convey the very essence of the Park. The new guide combines evocative photography, local stories and narratives, and practical information within an innovative and simple design approach. The choice of materials prioritized sustainability, using recycled paper and eco-friendly printing techniques, thereby reflecting the brand's philosophy and deep respect for nature. [nl]new-line[/nl] To complement the restyling and reprinting project, Otix developed a website that serves as a virtual extension of the experience offered by the Percorso Antico della Fede project. The website was designed to be an accessible and engaging resource, allowing visitors to plan their path and delve deeper into the stories and traditions that characterize the unique places shared by the guide. The interactive and multimedia sections of the site guide the user through the different stages of the path, offering additional content such as interactive maps. [nl]new-line[/nl] With the Percorso Antico della Fede project, Otix aimed to weave a visual narrative speaking of deep roots, breathtaking landscapes, and an unbreakable bond with the territory. An invitation to celebrate beauty, faith, and the connection with one's inner dimension: the restyling represents not only a visual metamorphosis, but also a tribute to the culture, history, and nature of the Pollino National Park.
